As Korea's cherished holiday Chuseok approached, the Masan branch of the Shincheonji Volunteer Group conducted a volunteer campaign to revitalize the Dongmasan Market.
Chuseok is a traditional Korean holiday when families gather together to prepare traditional foods and enjoy quality time. Markets become especially busy during this season, as many people visit to purchase fresh fruits and quality ingredients for their holiday celebrations.
The Shincheonji volunteers walked through every corner of the market, cleaning store signs and collecting trash to help prepare a welcoming environment for visitors. They also distributed 35 reusable shopping bags to citizens, encouraging them to join the effort to reduce single-use items.
Many of the market's shops have been operating for years, leaving their signs weathered and dirty. The merchants expressed deep gratitude as the volunteers carefully cleaned and restored their signboards.
What made this volunteer effort particularly meaningful was that it went beyond simple community service. The campaign also incorporated a "Carbon Neutrality in Action" theme, taking time to educate citizens about reducing single-use products and practicing environmental protection in daily life.
The Shincheonji Volunteer Group continues to brighten local communities through various volunteer activities throughout the year. While these may seem like small gestures, their consistent dedication and compassion continue to illuminate the world around them.
