Shincheonji Volunteers Are Doing Amazing Work🍀
Their recent Liberation Day campaign in Pohang really got to me, so I had to write about it.
Honestly - Most People Don't Display Korean Flags Anymore
I'll be honest, it's the same in my neighborhood. You can barely find houses displaying the Taegeukgi on Liberation Day or other national holidays. A lot of homes don't even own a Korean flag, and most people just think of these days as regular holidays.
But Shincheonji's Pohang branch didn't just let this slide. They created this fun event at Yeongil Beach and got over 200 people to participate.
They had mugunghwa drinks, speed flag-raising games, keychain making with independence fighter stories. Win the games and you get a Korean flag set to take home! This approach naturally got people interested, you know?
What one participant said really stuck with me: "I used to think of Liberation Day as just a day off, but today's experience made me think again about the sacrifices of independence fighters." That's what real change looks like.
It's Natural, Not Forced
This is what I love about Shincheonji's volunteer work. They don't force anything. They just make it fun and engaging, letting people feel it for themselves.
It's not just Pohang either - they're doing this kind of stuff nationwide. Disaster relief, blood drives, environmental cleanups. They're not just talking about it, they're actually doing it.
Korea Needs Groups Like This
People always say young Koreans don't care about civic engagement, but looking at Shincheonji volunteers breaks that stereotype. People of all ages are working hard for their communities.
It doesn't have to be some grand gesture. Starting with small things like this and gradually making our society better just feels good.
Shincheonji volunteers, you're doing fantastic work and keep it up! 👏
